Prof John Stanley did truly touch so many of our lives!

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of working for Prof Stanley in Wrightington, but he welcomed me there very warmly, on several occasions, both as a senior trainee and later as a Consultant. He hosed me for some memorable clinical visits and for some excellent surgical skills courses, where he so freely and clearly shared his extraordinary skills, knowledge and insights, and also his wonderful and entertaining hospitality!

John also shared all these things with us, and with so many others, on many occasions, at all the various national and international meetings that he attended - where we were entertained while we learned not only about hand surgery, but also about how to be a such a warm giving person.

Our thoughts are with Gail, his family and his close colleagues and friends in Wrightington, who must all be very much feeling John’s loss so acutely.
